Label this one "the Sideman’s Day in the Spotlight". Bob Green has toured or recorded with everyone from Hazel Dickens and Tommy Makem to Akira Satake and Shawn Colvin. This tight eight-track sampler showcases Green’s prowess on fiddle, mandolin, bass, bouzouki, mandocello and guitar. Not only is Green a multi-instrumentalist, he’s also a multi-stylist who easily moves from a dreamy Brazilian samba to a reworking of the New Age standard "Icarus", and then kicks up his heels with a pair of Irish dance tunes. He also rounds off the album with a couple of slip jigs. Center stage looks good on Green. (R Weir)
